My new book is published and ready for purchase.
Up to Your assets in Software is a humorous look at Enterprise Asset Managment (EAM) software. For the past twelve years, I have been working with asset management software called Maximo. I have been a trainer, tester, writer, and systems analyst, supporting companies that implement Maximo to manage their assets, work, and supplies. I started in 2011, working on drilling rigs around the world. After that, I worked for many companies and industries around the world, helping to design, develop and implement Maximo for customers.
I recentlry retired and decided to write a fun book that sheds light on what it takes to implement a large enterprise application. The idea came to me one day while listening to a conference call. The direction the customer took regarding the customization of Maximo made me think back to all of the other Maximo projects I had worked on over the years. I came up with a verse poking fun at the assets that need maintaining. I had fun writing the quick story, and showed it to a few co-workers. They encouraged me to keep writing.
I wrote several more verses, covering everything from deciding to buy an EAM to programming it, testing it, training it, launching it, and using it. All I needed was pictures. I turned to my best friend Chris Lawler, who created the cartoon images for each verse.
Up to Your Assets in Software won’t appeal to all. But if you’ve ever worked with Maximo or another EAM, you will find truth in the light-hearted stories.
